    Wandering Heart: 4 YR ANNI

    Wandering Heart: 4 YR ANNI

Four years ago, I released my most ambitious album at the time, "Wandering Heart". I say ambitious, because I wrote, recorded, and released the album in less than a month. Yes, it was only five tracks long, but it held more trauma and love than I had ever let go in songs. It also contained instruments I had not yet worked with. Violins, upright bass, and trumpet, along with a new drummer. I was still in the punk rock mindset of roaring guitars, fuzzy bass, and caveman drums,

    Let there be drums

I am not a drummer. I do okay with rhythm, but it's something I always have to work on. So, when I decided to do my own drumming for this recording, I was like "it'll be fine. I'm gonna be awesome at it." And you know what? It is fine. It is fun. But it's not quite awesome. Yet. When you're working in a DIY situation, anything goes. In the past, when I've recorded with others playing, I sat back and watched as the recording engineer mic'd everything up. The snare, the kick, t

    New Album Under Way

In August, I began recording my 3rd full length solo album. I started out strong, putting together a huge list of to-do's in instrumentation. It seemed to be going so easily, almost too easily, recording the base acoustic guitars and vocals for most of the songs on the list, plus a few extras, like bells, accordion, ukulele, and so on. I was able to get a guitar solo here and there. Time ran out, and before you know it, school lessons began, and I was back to the grind of wor

    Halloweenapalooza!

Last weekend, I went over to Ottumwa to help out the Prescribed Films gang with their annual Halloweenapalooza. The event is an extravaganza of Halloween goodies, featuring the only horror film fest in Iowa, a zombie walk, ghost hunt, live music, vendors of all sorts, presentations from authors, film makers, & paranormal experts, a costume contest, awards ceremony, and of course, Rocky Horror Picture Show, with audience participation. I had the privilege of having my own vend

    MORE Magazine Sighting!

Hey y'all! I just got a chance to see the newest issue of MORE Magazine, a local magazine that features everything in the Tri-state area. Guess what? I'm in it! Since it's a local mag, they have it online, and you can see my article HERE. You can also see my arm being tattooed on page 10 by my good friend Chris Hall. Thank you to Megan McNeill for the interview and write up, and to Canyon McCarty for taking that sweet picture. Y'all are the best.
